The 31 page per minute (ppm) Canon Color imageRUNNER LBP-5460 was introduced in August 2009 in North America, followed one month later by the high performance 30 ppm (A4) Satera LBP-7700 (Japan), i-SENSYS LBP-7750c (Europe) and the Laser Shot LBP-7750c (Australia/New Zealand). All models have the same specifications and supplies, but with the cartridge SKUs differing depending upon the geographic region.

The LBP-5460 family all-in-one color cartridges are offered in 8,500 page standard yield only, with black available in 5,000 page standard yield and 10,000 page high yield versions. Replacement cartridges ship with a complex molded removable shipping protector covering the OPC instead of the drum shutter found in earlier cartridges. There is no visible seal or pull tab on the exterior. Instead, the seal is located and pulled internally like the HP^® 4730.

HP versions based on the same print engine in the LBP-5460 family were also introduced. The HP CP3525 color laser printer and CM3530 color MFP were launched in the Fall of 2008.

The 3,000 page yield black and 4,100 page yield color “starter” cartridges that ship installed in the printers are physically the same as the standard yield color and low yield black replacement versions, but filled with less toner. By installing Static Control's replacement chip and the correct toner load a starter cartridge can be used as a 5,000 page yield black or 8,500 page yield color cartridge.
